The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to hold trials of Free Nutritious Meals (MBG). This time, the Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono accompanied by Public Welfare Acting Assistant, Suharini Eliawati; Jakarta Education Agency Acting Head, Budi Awaluddin; and East Jakarta Mayor, M Anwar inspected the MBG trial at SDN 04 Pagi Cipayung, East Jakarta, Monday (8/26).

According to him, the third trial was conducted to find the ideal formulation for balanced nutritional intake and according to the tastes preferred by students when eating together at school. He also ensured that all processes run smoothly and effectively.

He explained the program was aimed at improving children's nutrition, while empowering canteen managers, school committees, including MSMEs. To smoothen it, the Jakarta Government would coordinate with the National Nutrition Agency.

"Hopefully, it can improve the development of quality Human Resources (HR), physical resilience, and safe and nutritious consumption for national assets towards Golden Indonesia 2045. Thank you to all parties involved for their efforts to make this program trial a success," he explained.

People's Welfare Assistant, Suharini Eliawati uttered the Free Nutritious Meal trial this time was held together with PAM Jaya. The food was given to all students, from grade one to grade six.

"The provider this time is BUMD PAM Jaya with a price by Rp 25,000 per portion, consisting of rice, chicken, omelet, capcay, grapes, mineral water, and sweet corn kernels as an effort to introduce carbohydrate sources other than rice," she explained.

She also explained the MBG packages distributed must meet students' calorie needs, thus they have energy for their daily learning activities. It must be a serious concern, so that the quality of students' nutrition and nutrition is maintained and they can become a smart generation without nutritional problems.

"The total calorie count is 450,000 calories per serving. Meanwhile, the calorie needs of elementary school children range from 1,800 to 2,100 calories per day. So, the calorie value at breakfast ranges from 20% to 25% of the total needs," she closed.
